Today’s youth (18 and Under) are looking for employment more and more every day. With the somber news about the economy, college, and paying student loans, every young person today is aware of what lies ahead for them in the job market.
What better way to make money for a teenager than on the internet. There is probably not a group anywhere that is better equipped to work on the internet than a teenager. It seems as though all teenagers were born with computers in their hands. Technology is something that they are used to and are comfortable with. There are many ways and many places to earn money on the internet for a teenager.
If your teenager is an expert of something or has a special interest in something, the perfect way for them to try to earn money is by sharing this interest or expertise through blogging. He or she can learn how to blog by taking an inexpensive tutorial and then take it from there. Once he or she has learned how to set up a blog, the next step would be to learn how to advertise on that blog.
If you have a teen that is proficient in writing, then the internet is the perfect resource for them to bring in a few extra dollars. There are so many individuals as well as companies looking to hire people to write for them. Many individuals do not care for writing or simply do not have the time. Therefore, a great match for your teen who loves English is to find those companies seeking to hire. Hubpages and Helium accepts teens (with parental consent) to write articles and get paid.
Proofreading and Editing
If your teen’s grammar is great and are a good Proofreader, this is the position for them. There are companies that will give you an opportunity to do some proofreading and editing work even as a teen. Textmaster, Upwork, and Amazon Mturk are great places to look for beginner proofreading and editing jobs.
There are so many new web master businesses out there because finding employment outside the home is so difficult. This setting up of new internet businesses is creating many legitimate work-at-home experiences. One way is to have your teen take a tutorial or an online class on how to become a web master. Of course, it does not have to be a college course; a simple how to class will suffice. Once the art and skill of web creation is learned, a teen can offer their expertise to local businesses.
With your supervision, your teenager can sell things they no longer need (or resell cool stuff they find at thrift stores or yard sales) – like on eBay and Amazon – they can sell almost anything that’s worth some money.
If they love taking pictures, they can sell their photos online! There are plenty of websites that will pay for your photos for use as stock photography for websites, presentations, and documents. Shutterstock and Dreamstime are good places to start. You can sign up as a contributor and you’ll receive royalties (cash) when someone downloads your photo or purchases a license to use your photo.
Do they have a bunch of old books from school you don’t need? Bookscouter is a great site for getting rid of your books. You can also download their free app, available for iPhone and Android devices. This will enable you to snap photos of books’ barcodes, saving yourself the time of typing in ISBN numbers.
By starting out small and working their way up, a teen can find many creative ways to make money using the internet. You will find that employers and business owners are very much in admiration of youth that are looking for work, and hard work at that. Many a recommendation can springboard from that.
